Piers Morgan – Boyle has not had breakdown

Piers Morgan on Susan Boyle
Piers Morgan has dismissed speculation that Susan Boyle has suffered a breakdown.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge claimed that tabloid reports about Boyle’s health were “pretty exaggerated” and that her admission to the Priory clinic was “entirely voluntary”.
“She has gone in there to get some rest and get away from everyone, get away from the show, the media, the public and have some downtime. It was entirely voluntary,” Contactmusic quotes him as saying.
Morgan went on to defend fellow judge Simon Cowell, insisting that he is concerned about the welfare of all the Britain’s Got Talent acts.
“The idea that Simon is totally oblivious to the whole thing and just wants to make money out of her couldn’t be further from the truth,” he said.
“Simon, like everyone, is very concerned about Susan. No-one could have predicted this.”
Boyle lost out to dance group Diversity in Saturday night’s final of the ITV1 show.

Amanda Holden says ‘Boyle will have a huge hit’

amanda holden 'Boyle will have a huge hit'
Amanda Holden has predicted a bright future for Susan Boyle ahead of tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent final.
The show’s judge confirmed that she expects Boyle to have a hit record even if she does not win the ITV1 competition.
Boyle’s performance of Les Miserables number ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ at her original audition became a YouTube sensation after it aired in April. She remains the bookies’ favourite to triumph on the programme tonight.
Discussing the star’s chances, Holden told the Daily Record: “We’ve just got to keep being on her side and not assume she’s going to win.”
She added: “I would imagine that whether she wins or loses, she will definitely record ‘I Dreamed A Dream’. I think that that would be a huge, huge hit. It would go platinum.”
Boyle has become a subject of controversy in recent days following reports that she launched into a ‘foul-mouthed outburst’ at the Wembley Plaza Hotel.
Additionally, Lily Allen has described the Scottish singer as “so overrated”, while Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood claimed that she “sucks”.

Susan Boyle moved to safe house

Can Susan make it to meet the Queen?
Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle has been moved to a “safe house” as she prepares for Saturday’s final.
One judge, Piers Morgan, confirmed that she had become so “distraught” at negative media headlines this week that she almost quit the ITV show.
He said the singer from West Lothian was now relaxing with one of her closest friends from Scotland.
A former psychologist for Big Brother said she should be withdrawn from the contest to protect her mental health.
The 48-year-old church volunteer from Blackburn became an international sensation after her performances attracted millions of hits on video sharing websites.
But she is reported to be feeling the pressure, apparently losing her temper with tabloid reporters in the lobby of a hotel in North London. If Britain’s Got Talent was an experiment in any university we would have to draw a line on that experiment
Professor David Wilson
Speaking on BBC Radio, Mr Morgan said he did not believe she would quit the show.
“She had a rocky moment a couple of days ago when she woke up and saw some very negative headlines and suddenly felt the pressure of world attention,” he said.
“You have to remember this is someone who has gone from complete anonymity to global stardom in the space of six weeks.
“It’s understandable. People should give her a bit of slack. She’s 24 hours from the biggest day of her life and she’s starting to feel the heat.”
The former tabloid editor said Ms Boyle had been reduced to tears several times during the week.
Psychological help
He said psychological and medical help was available to contestants, although he could not say if she had asked for such assistance.
“She is very distraught, to the extent where she packed her bags and was going to leave the show,” he said.
“She just didn’t see the point of continuing if every time she picked up the newspapers there was another avalanche of abuse.”
Responding to his comments, Professor David Wilson, a former psychologist for reality TV show Big Brother, said Ms Boyle should be stopped from going into the final.
He said: “I am amazed by the honesty he showed in revealing the depth of how distraught Susan Boyle is.
“If Britain’s Got Talent was an experiment in any university we would have to draw a line on that experiment because ethically we would be putting the person at the heart of that experiment through emotional turmoil.
“It’s a duty of care, it’s about a moral responsibility. The harrowing week that Piers was describing hasn’t been created by the press. The harrowing week has been created by the programme.”

Morgan: ‘I’ll kiss Susan Boyle on TV’

piers morgan sick of susan boyle
Piers Morgan has vowed to kiss Susan Boyle live on air when the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals begin.
Scottish singer Boyle claimed that she had never been kissed when she auditioned for the ITV1 reality series earlier this year.
The 48-year-old later became a YouTube phenomenon after her audition aired in April – and she remains the bookies’ favourite to win the competition.
Speaking to the Daily Star, show judge Morgan explained: “After Susan auditioned for the show and said she’d never been kissed, I did say that I would break her ‘kissing duck’. That offer still stands.
“I have not seen her since the auditions. So when we meet again, if Susan asks for a kiss, I’ll do it – on TV.”
Britain’s Got Talent continues at 8.20pm tonight on ITV1.

Boyle’s family hope for Scottish support

Susan Boyle’s brother has encouraged Scots to support the star once the Britain’s Got Talent live shows begin.
The 48-year-old singer, from Blackburn, West Lothian, has made it through to the semi-final stages and is currently preparing to fight for a place in this year’s final.
“She has to get the public behind her and people need to keep voting,” Boyle’s brother Gerard told the Daily Record. “We are having a party to get behind her and it would be wonderful if the rest of Scotland did too.”
The businessman also insisted that his sister has not become complacent about her chances following the hype which surrounded her original audition.
“Susan now realises that she is a contestant in a competition and she has to really earn her right to go forward,” he explained. “She has never been full of herself but she is quietly confident and doesn’t think anyone is any better or worse than her.”
Britain’s Got Talent continues at 8.20pm tonight on ITV1.

Susan Boyle The Simpsons

Susan Boyle Biggest star on planet
Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has inspired cartoon slacker Homer Simpson to audition for a talent show in The Simpsons.
Ms Boyle, 48, from West Lothian, became a worldwide sensation after appearing on Britain’s Got Talent last month.
In the online clip, Homer appears before judge Simon Cowell, saying “My name is Homer Simpson, I’m 39 years old and, well, I’ve never been kissed.”
He adds: “My dream is to be a great singer like Susan Boyle.”
Ms Boyle’s rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables on the ITV1 show turned her into a global phenomenon after being posted on YouTube.
She was previously mentioned in cult US cartoon show South Park.
Last week, she appeared on a special episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Her appearance in The Simpsons video extra, Springfield’s Got Talent, is part of the show’s 20th-anniversary season.

Mulhern ‘concerned about Boyle vote’
Stephen Mulhern has admitted that he is concerned the public may not vote for Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent.
The presenter said that viewers may think her worldwide fame has guaranteed her a win and could choose to support another finalist.
“What I hope is that people aren’t going to go, ‘You know what, she’s so well known now that I don’t need to back her, I’m going to back someone else’,” he told ITV’s This Morning.
“I just hope people haven’t seen too much of her. I think the weird thing is, you’ve only heard her sing one song so the pressure for her is going to be intense I think.”
Mulhern, who presents Britain’s Got More Talent on ITV2, later claimed that he was sceptical about Boyle when she first turned up to audition for the show.
“I remember when she arrived. She was about two hours early before her audition with her plastic bag containing her sandwiches and it’s an awful thing to say but you do judge people straight away,” he said.
“I just wondered what she was going to do and because she arrived so early, she would’ve waited about four hours before she was even seen and it was just the biggest shock. For everyone.”
