As Susan shot to fame,  Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden vowed she would not have a ‘Hollywood makeover’, stating it would spoil her lovable appeal.

Now it seems Susan Boyle has had plans of her own if these photos from the U.S. fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar are anything to go by.

Susan wears a variety of designer outfits for the shoot, which was her first since the ITV talent show.

A behind the scenes look was broadcast on U.S. TV yesterday 5 August , showing a very delighted Susan announcing she ‘felt like a movie star’.

Unfortunatly Susan will not be on the cover of the magazine, but instead will feature in a large spread inside the September issue entitled Susan Boyle: Unsung Hero.

Smiling Susan said: ‘It really made me feel like a Hollywood actress. Had my hair done up.’

In April,  Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden dismissed the idea of Susan getting a new look.

‘I won’t let Simon Cowell take her to his dentist and I certainly won’t let her near his hairdresser,’ she said then.

‘She needs to stay exactly as she is because that’s the reason we all love her. She just looks like anybody who could live on your street.

‘The minute we turn her into a glamourpuss is when it’s spoilt. For now we’ll keep her exactly as she is because that’s why we’ve all fallen in love with her.

‘I think it’s the underdog thing.’

Clearly Susan, and fellow judge / owner of her record label, Simon Cowell, disagree.

Laura Brown, Harper’s Bazaar’s special projects editor was interviewed on NBC‘s Today Show.

‘The idea behind the shoot was a very, very simple one,’ she said.

‘It was to take gorgeous, glamorous and sensitive portraits of her. This was her first magazine photo shoot, so you can’t do too much too soon.’

Susan Boyle who as we all know became an overnight sensation when her audition for the show was put on YouTube. Hundreds of millions logging on to watch and here her sing.’She came on to the stage and just transfixed us all,’ said Laura Brown.

‘She’s become a hero to a lot of people with dreams of stardom, or who maybe have a talent but have been too scared to express it.

‘And I think everyone’s heart soared when they saw her sing that day.

‘I think Susan is getting more and more used to being in the spotlight and being on television and being photographed.

‘Since April, you’ve seen her look just day to day become more polished and refined. And she’s growing in her confidence with what she’ll wear and how she’ll be perceived.

‘She actually did a little bit of moonwalking in her Giuseppe Zanotti heels at one point.

‘What we did on our shoot was give her a little bit of a haircut, and that was it, and a little bit of a curl.

‘And actually the shape of her hair is great. She’s got a really lovely curl to it.

‘So we just tidied it up a little bit and paired it with some natural makeup, and she looked great.’

The creator and judge of the ITV show said he was fed up with stories about 47-year-old Boyle’s unkempt hair, bushy eyebrows and pet cats.
He urged the middle-aged spinster to focus on winning the television talent competition rather than being caught up in the whirlwind of attention that has focused on her after she wowed audiences with her performance on the show.
Footage of Boyle’s rendition of I Dreamed a Dream on Britain’s Got Talent has turned into a YouTube hit and attracted celebrity followers including Demi Moore and husband Ashton Kutcher.
Cowells comments come after Boyle, from West Lothian, underwent a makeover to polish her dowdy appearance, including having her eyebrows plucked, her hair dyed and new clothes.
Speaking in Los Angeles on Friday night, Cowell said: “She has got four weeks to prepare for the biggest night of her life, and she has got to sing better than she sang before with all those expectations on her.
“But it could all go horribly wrong for her because there are so many other distractions.
“Get yourself together sweetheart for the big one – the semi-final. Shut the door, choose the right song and come back as who you are, not who you want to be,” he said.
He also said he was embarrassed at his initial reaction when Boyle walked on stage.
“We were all guilty on the panel of judging her before she sang, and we got got it utterly wrong. You watch it back and it is embarrassing,” said Cowell, who is well-known for his acid-tongued comments.
Britain’s Got Talent is open to anyone regardless of age or performing skills. It has 40 versions worldwide and the fourth season of the U.S. version, America’s Got Talent, kicks off on NBC on June 23.
“I am seriously thinking now we should hold two more open auditions (of America’s Got Talent) off the back of Susan Boyle.
“You don’t have to be a singer who is 47 and never been kissed, but just someone who says ‘I think I am talented, and I don’t think people are going to judge me because of the way I look’,” he said.

Katy Brand has criticised Amanda Holden for making “patronising” comments about Susan Boyle’s appearance.
Holden, 38, recently vowed to veto plans to give the Britain’s Got Talent star a makeover, insisting that a new look would jeopardise her unique appeal.
Speaking earlier this month, the show’s judge claimed: “She needs to stay exactly as she is because that’s the reason we love her. She just looks like anybody who could live on your street. The minute we turn her into a glamour puss is when it’s spoiled.”
However, appearing on last night’s episode of Have I Got News For You, comedienne Brand admitted that she was unimpressed by Holden’s remarks.
“I think Amanda Holden should stop patronising other women and let her do whatever she wants to do,” Brand explained.
Commenting on Boyle’s audition, the Big Ass Show star said: “When she walked out on-stage, all of the judges treated her like there was no way she could have any talent and they all laughed at her because of the way she looked.
“Then she started singing and they all did that prime-time jaw-dropping thing that they like to do.”
Boyle recently ignored Holden’s comments and went ahead with plans for a new look.
